AB and Steelers demolish Redskins in Monday Night Season Opener

Last week the NFL finally started again. There were great games over the weekend, but one game that stood out was the Steelers vs Redskins game. The game was the first Monday Night Football game of the week and was acquiring some great hype.

Before the game began there were many previews published for the game. One big preview show was the Steelers vs. Redskins (Week 1 Preview) | Around the NFL Podcast. The members had some unique predictions but one prediction that stood out was when Greg Rosenthal claimed the Steelers defense would be a shutdown defense in the game. On air he claimed “the Steelers defense changed a little bit {in off season} and will be better”.

As the game began there was excitement in the air. It was the first Monday Night Football game of the season since December 28th of 2015.

The first half concluded with the score being 14-6 Steelers.

According to the record book, Big Ben surpassed Dan Fouts during the 2nd quarter of the game for passing yards. Pittsburgh Steelers PR/Media Manager tweeted “#Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger has surpassed Dan Fouts (43,040) for the 12th-most passing yards in NFL history, now with 43,055.”

As the second half began the Steelers game out with even more intensity putting up 12 more points on the board in the third quarter. At the end of the quarter ESPN NFL tweeted out Sean  McDonough’s claim "No Le'Veon Bell, no Heath Miller, no Martavis Bryant, no problem." Surely everyone agreed with that as they were running up the scoreboard against the Redskins.

The last quarter came and we saw nothing different. The Steelers controlled the ball for most of the quarter and Deangelo Williams and Antonio Brown couldn’t be stopped.

The first 2016-17 Monday Night Football game of the season concluded with a score of 38-16 Steelers. At the end of the game, Steelers reporter Chris Adamski tweeted “Steelers have won 6 in a row vs the Redskins”.

The Steelers dominated the Redskins once again as Big Ben, Antonio Brown, and Deangelo Williams led the charge. Both teams do not face off against one another at all again this season.
